Whether your fitness goals are to “rev up” your metabolism, increase strength or lean body mass, decrease body fat, rehabilitate injuries, improve athletic performance, or maintain independence as you age, lifting weights is a marked shortcut to that end.
When Jason started working with us just over two months ago he was already in good shape. He’s an avid runner, and hasn’t had any alcohol for more than a year and half, or added sugar this calendar year.
Despite telling a friend “I’d never lift a weight”, Jason tried a 12-week CrossFit program, and noticed he lost body fat and built muscle, on top of the progress he already made running and cleaning up his diet.
Jason came to us wanting to further his progress, and continue to build strength.
After 2 months Jason noticed “Definite improvement in strength, mobility and endurance. Most surprising is the endurance as I had been running a lot previously but there is a definite improvement. Has improved my running quite drastically as well. Look forward to continuing progress”
When I asked Jason about specific running improvements he said, “Really everything. A lot more power on the uphills and I had a stair climb yesterday in the middle of my run that usually beats me up but I went right up.”
Jason had never lifted weights. He made a change, tried something new, added CrossFit to his routine, is “surprisingly liking it even more than [he] thought [he] would”, and is seeing results!
A change to your routine may be just the thing that gets you the results you’re after. Lifting weights is beneficial for everyone of any age or ability. What’s holding you back from getting started and trying something new?
